IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i Pacific University forwards Niksha Federico and Jonathan Janssen are the Sharks selections on the 2018 All-PacWest Conference Men's Basketball Team announced on Wednesday by the conference office.
 
Federico was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year and chosen to the All-PacWest First Team. Janssen was honored on the All-PacWest Third Team.
 
Federico, a 6-7 senior transfer from San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic via San Diego State, led the PacWest in scoring and rebounding, averaging 21.7 points and 10.4 rebounds that rank 21st in Division II in scoring and 19th in rebounding. Federico also led the league and is sixth in double-doubles with 17. He ended the season sixth in the PacWest with a 46.6 field goal percentage, fourth in the conference with a 36.0 3-point field goal percentage, third in the league averaging 2.70 3-point field goals per game and fourth in the PacWest with an 82.9 free throw percentage. At 32.7 minutes a game, Federico was seventh in playing time in the conference.
 
Federico had the top rebounding game in the PacWest with his 18 boards against Cal State Dominguez Hills and the sixth best scoring night with 31 points against Azusa Pacific. He was named the PacWest Conference Player of the Week once this season and was the Defender of the Week four times.
 
Janssen, a 6-9 junior from Noosa Heads, Australia/Mountain State who arrived from Cleveland State two seasons ago, averaged 13.6 points per game and ranked seventh in the PacWest with 7.0 rebounds a contest. He ranked ninth in the PacWest in blocked shots per game with 29, an average of 1.0 per contest. He scored a career-high 25 points against Holy Names, with 11 rebounds twice and five double-doubles on the season. He collected three blocked shots against Chaminade and at Fresno Pacific.
 
Joining Federico with PacWest Special Awards are Trevor Hill of PacWest Champion Dixie State who was chosen by the conference coaches as both the Player and Defender of the Year. Biola's Isaiah Jones was tabbed the Freshman of the Year and Dixie's Jon Judkins was named the Coach of the Year.
 
Federico and Hill are joined on the All-PacWest First Team by Chaminade's Austin Pope, Dixie State's Brandon Simister, California Baptist's Kalidou Diouf and Azusa Pacific's Petar Kutlesic.
 
The Sharks finished the season at 15-13 overall, 10-10 in PacWest Conferenc play.
