Nominations Sought for HPU Athletics Hall of Fame

HONOLULU (October 30, 2015)—The Hawaii Pacific University athletics department is seeking nominations for the fifth class to join the prestigious HPU Athletics Hall of Fame, presented by Wealth Strategy Partners.

The 2015-16 Hall of Fame Class will be inducted at a soon-to-be-determined gala event slated for February 2016. Recent inductees to the field of 19 honorees include Neil Everett (2014), a former HPU sports information director and assistant athletics director turned ESPN SportsCenter anchor, national title-winning basketball coach Tony Sellitto (2012) and Sea Warrior baseball player turned MLB standout Benny Agbayani (2011).

Those interested in nominating a former student-athlete, coach or administrator/support staffer can do so via HPUSharks.com by clicking on "Hall of Fame Nomination Form" under the Athletics Department tab. The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 13, and Hall of Fame selections will be announced shortly thereafter.

"We have such a proud history here at HPU and look forward to celebrating another class of contributors to our athletic programs," said HPU executive director of athletics Vince Baldemor. "The induction ceremony will provide a tremendous opportunity for our current student-athletes, staff and supporters to learn about HPU's rich history and understand that they are truly part of something great."

Since 1978, HPU athletics has produced six national championship-winning teams and five national finalists, while also amassing 27 conference championships and two PacWest Commissioner's Cups. Individually, 127 Sharks student-athletes have been named All-Americans, while three have earned Academic All-American distinctions. HPU is also home to eight national coaches of the year and three national assistant coaches of the year.
